The Warehouse Supervisor oversees the employee staff within the department(s) of their responsibility to ensure the departmental goals and targets are met.  These areas are, but are not limited to; shipping customer orders, hiring, termination, training, performance evaluation, rewarding & counseling employees in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.  This position is critical for achieving customer service, plant efficiency and inventory objectives.


Directly Supervise Warehouse Employees/Area 

  • Monitor daily customer shipments for domestic, international, receiving and support where needed
  • Ensure all shipped orders are entered in SAP daily as required
  • Review and analyze inventory levels to ensure inventory accuracy on all shipments
  • Have weekly meetings to discuss departmental metrics and targets
  • Provide monthly performance reports
  • Work with Purchasing to ensure that all necessary materials are on order and will be received in a timely manner
  • Ensure all equipment in their respective department(s) is maintained to appropriate standards
  • Support and enforce company policies, procedures, and safety regulations
  • Interview, hire, motivate, reward, counsel, discipline, and terminate employees in accordance with the organizations policies
  • Utilize lean tools: 5s, and visual factory concepts in maintaining order and cleanliness
  • Educate and motivate warehouse personnel on the importance of attaining key accountability metrics/goals
  • Track daily time of warehouse personnel
  • Maintain training levels for all subordinates
  • Maintain Work Instructions and Procedures as they relate to assigned department(s)
  • Complete employee reviews as per the company schedule
  • Ensure department budget targets are met
  • Responsible for keeping abreast of new technologies and methodologies in the  distribution discipline, and to regularly suggest changes that will result in improved labor productivity, processes, and equipment.



Team Based Problem Solving/Projects

  • Lead cross-functional teams to facilitate optimal warehouse performance
  • Analyze opportunities, develops and implements solutions to enhance the area processes; activities include picking/packing process improvement, increase inventory turns, cycle counts, cost reduction efforts, statistical analysis, as well as utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodology, and teamwork
  • While the position is generally a day shift position, there will be times when off shift staffing and operational functionalities will need to be addressed, and the supervisor must be flexible in meeting those needs.
  • Complete assigned projects on time and within budget



Inventory Support 


  • Supervise inventory program for the warehouse
  • Work towards continuous improvement in inventory accuracy
  • Analyze warehouse inventory balances and picking/packing errors to correct inventories
  • Complete annual physical inventory for assigned department(s)
  • Maintain inventory bin turn targets for warehouse
  • Maintain FIFO system for all warehouse stocking items



Education and/or Experience     


Required –

  • Associate's degree in Business Management, Operations Management, Warehouse Management and/or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or minimum of three years of related experience as a supervisor in a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Excellent computer skills; Effective written and verbal communication; Ability to simultaneously execute multiple assignments; Problem solving; and Project management


Preferred –

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Operations Management, or Warehouse Management
  • SAP Experience
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
  • Lean Manufacturing Experience
