Job Title: Material Coordinator

 

FLSA Status: Hourly / Non-exempt

 

Department: Logistics

 

Reports to: Logistics Manager

 

Shift: First shift, Full-time (weekends, as needed)

Position Summary: Perform a variety of shipping and receiving tasks. Compares identifying information on incoming or outgoing shipments with purchase orders, invoices, or other documents.

 

Qualifications required:

  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork;
  • Records maintenance skills;
  • Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel;
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures;
  • Ability to sort, check, count, and verify numbers;
  • Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance;
  • Ability to receive, track, stock and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment;
  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects;
  • Ability to operate forklift;
  • Ability to package equipment and load into semi-trailers efficiently and safely;
  • Knowledge of postal or commercial shipping methods and procedures; and
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required. 

 

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Preparing packages and bills of lading for outgoing shipments;
  • Receiving and unloading incoming materials, ensuring accuracy of shipment;
  • Inspecting shipments and notifies supervisor of damages;
  • Delivers items to requisitioning departments and designated staging areas;
  • Operating loading/unloading equipment for shipments;
  • Consolidating stock and purchased items for kitting to sub-assembly department; and
  • Manage input of information for discrepant material.

 

Experience / Skills:

  • HS Diploma, GED or equivalent degree required;
  • High attention to detail and quality;
  • Able to plan and execute daily and weekend scheduled tasks;
  • Able to keep work area clean and organized;
  • Able to give directions to peers within the department;
  • Excellent team player with organizational and time management skills;
  • Safely operate fork trucks and overhead cranes;
  • Skill in the use of computers, specifically in a PC, Windows-based operating environment;
  • Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports;
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations; and
  • Commitment to company values.

 

Nonessential skills and experience:

  • Safety (OSHA STDS), ANSI (RIA) Standards. 
  • Inventory control, Facilities maintenance backup, Warehouse material management.

 

Success factors/job competencies:

  • Behavioral skills required include: team oriented, hardworking, driven, willing to work overtime on a consistent basis, and ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Must be able to maintain accuracy and productivity related to assigned tasks.

  • Understand the Company’s EHS Policy and how it relates to this job;
  • Be aware of OSHA & EPA laws and regulations as well as Vizient’s rules and policies that pertain to this job;
  • Work in a safe and environmentally friendly manner and observe all company EHS procedures;
  • Immediately notify the supervisor if there is any safety hazard, any equipment not operating correctly or if there are any questions regarding EHS procedures, and
  • Attend required EHS training.
