Job Title: Intern – Mechanical Engineer

 

Department: Engineering

 

Reports to: Assistant Engineering Manager

 

Shift: First – Temporary

 

Position Summary: Learn conceptual and detailed engineering of custom robotic work cells and industrial tooling using 3-D CAD software (ProE, Creo, and SolidWorks).

 

Responsibilities:

  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment with deadlines (typical project duration is 4-8 weeks);
  • Mechanical aptitude for engineering custom / prototype mechanisms;
  • Sense of urgency to create and/or implement solutions;
  • Ability to complete basic engineering calculations (static, dynamic systems) with assistance;
  • Ability to maintain professional image and uphold company standards while interacting with customers, suppliers and / or co-workers; and
  • Miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

 

Experience / Skills:

  • Candidates must be in their junior or senior year of a 4-year undergraduate program from an accredited 4-year academic institution (i.e., mechanical engineering); and
  • Maintain a G.P.A. of “B” (i.e., 3.0) or higher (selected candidates may be requested to provide transcripts upon offer of internship).

 

Nonessential Skills and Experience:

  • Safety (OSHA, SDS), ANSI (RIA) Standards. 

 

Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S):

  • Understand the Company’s EHS Policy and how it relates to this job;
  • Be aware of OSHA & EPA laws and regulations as well as Vizient’s rules and policies that pertain to this job;
  • Work in a safe and environmentally friendly manner and observe all company EHS procedures;
  • Immediately notify the supervisor if there is any safety hazard, any equipment not operating correctly or if there are any questions regarding EHS procedures, and
  • Attend required EHS training.
