Electrician

Purpose:  This position is responsible for the installation, testing and maintaining of electrical systems as designated by each project specification.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • High School diploma, GED or Vocational High School diploma; Technical College degree, or equivalent experience.     

 

  • A general knowledge of industrial drives, AC-DC power, electrical instrumentation,  DCS, industrial controls/DCS, DCS/PLC, control valves, blueprint schematic reading, AC/DC schematics, electrical PLC, and general schematic layouts.

 

Basic Requirements:

 

  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools per electrical drawing and documentation packages issued from the controls engineering for each project.

 

  • Complete required tasks by project specific dates.

 

  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.

 

  • Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications.
     
  •  Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.

 

  •  Must be able to read and prepare sketches or follow blueprints/schematics to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
     
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
     
  • Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including oscilloscopes, ammeters, and test lamps.

 

  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures

 

  • Running wires through conduit

 

  • Test or repair electrical based equipment

 

  • Work closely with engineers.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
