Additive Support Engineer

PURPOSE: service and support LE Additive Solutions Robotic WAAM system installations at customer locations.  Support Lincoln Electric Additive Solutions systems customers through equipment setup, equipment servicing, training and general support of customer production and research needs. Expected travel is greater than 50% with the potential for up to 75%.



Primary duties to perform this job include:

  • Service and support customer WAAM system installations:
    • Equipment installation supervision & setup
    • System debug & troubleshooting
    • Onsite training
    • Customer part printing support (onsite & remote)
    • Equipment maintenance & upgrades
    • Phone Support
  • Lead customer training activities both onsite and at Additive Solutions in CLE
  • Support as required the Cleveland additive production operations
    • Part production activities including 24/7 prints which may require shift work
    • Sales efforts providing assistance with customer inquiries and solutions
    • Estimating & sales activities
    • Production system troubleshooting & maintenance
  • Work on the design, specification, and documentation of equipment, processes and materials used in additive manufacturing
  • Other duties as assigned by the department supervisor.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s 2025 Strategy. 


  • Required
    • Minimum four-year B.S. in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Mechanical, Electrical, Welding, Metallurgy, Software, or Material Science)
    • Minimum 0-1 years engineering experience
    • Possesses and applies fundamental engineering and scientific principles, practices and procedures, within the field of specialization, to the completion of assignments
    • Computer literate with working knowledge of MS Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Experience modeling and drafting in CAD
    • Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally
    • Work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously
  • Preferable
    • Solidworks CAD experience
    • Basic programming
    • Robotics – especially industrial articulated robots
    • Welding – especially GMAW
    • 3D Printing
