PURPOSE:   The purpose of this position is to support the consumable division Supply Management team with needed materials on a daily basis.



  • Develop and verify purchase orders for quantity, price, due date and supplier per Buyer’s parameters.
  • Approve signed purchase orders per predetermined dollar limits.
  • Expedite and de-expedite purchase orders due to changes in demand or count.
  • Cancel orders not needed in order to control inventory.
  • Creatively supply Manufacturing purchased material supply solutions for supply problems.
  • Be responsive and accountable for securing supplier compliance information.
  • Create and track purchase requirements in support of R&D projects.
  • Respond to MRP and receiving exception reports.
  • Aggressively manage past due purchase orders.
  • Communicate closely with suppliers to improve delivery and service.
  • Initiate contacts with shop floor regarding supplier quality/delivery issues.
  • Maintenance of delivery tolerances and individual part planning parameters.
  • Participate in and initiate cost reduction projects.
  • Identify inventory adjustments for purchased materials.
  • Work with Senior Buyers and Sourcing Specialist to establish Supplier Managed Inventory programs.
  • Coordinate Global Spend Reports and generate Department Dashboard.
  • Maintain Purchase Info Records and other Supplier Maintenance in SAP.
  • Maintenance of Projects in Clarity.



  • College degree preferred.
  • APICS certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of planning/procurement systems.  Ability to learn SAP.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office productivity software, such as Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Self-motivated and directed.
  • Ability to work with other departments, including R&D, Receiving, Quality Assurance, Production, Production Planning and Engineering.
  • Ability to interface with external suppliers.
  • Knowledge of Lincoln part numbers and products preferred.
  • Capable of coordinating purchased items.
  • Capability to work in a team environment for special projects implementation.
