Summary

 

Lincoln Electric is seeking a Corporate Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer for our Cleveland, Ohio headquarters. The EHS Engineer will play a key role in supporting our global Product Stewardship initiative by providing guidance and assistance to all Global Lincoln Electric manufacturing and support operations, as well as to assist in the development of tools that can be utilized to effectively communicate product information to our customers.  This is an outstanding opportunity to join a global leader in its industry. Responsibilities

 

The Corporate EHS Engineer serves as an essential team member to develop and assess centrally derived policies and procedures.  As a functional expert in hazard communication and chemical control regulations, this position will take the lead on one or more areas while serving as a backup to other team members.  In addition, this role will provide regulatory expertise and support services to both internal and external customers. Specific responsibilities include:

 

  • Assist in the development and implementation of the Corporate Product Stewardship program, including the development of the technical platform needed to ensure product regulatory compliance and risk management.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of global hazard communication and chemical control regulations including, but not limited to: OSHA, TSCA, USRTK, WHMIS, CLP, REACH, ROHS, Conflict Minerals, GHS, DOT, IATA, IMDG, etc.
  • Act as a Corporate Product Stewardship liaison between facilities by providing regulatory and technical assistance, including writing and reviewing business process procedures, specifications and work instructions.
  • Support creation and maintenance of data required for compliance to chemical and hazard communication regulations.  This includes product formulation and fume management, regulatory and expert rulesets, GHS classifications, dangerous goods management and other related information management.
  • Author and maintain Safety Data Sheets, Safe Use Guides, labels, registrations, certifications, declarations, chemical inventories and other chemical related product documentation as required.
  • Respond to internal or external customer questions regarding hazard communication or chemical regulations.
  • Establish, review and analyze key Product Stewardship metrics and recommend improvements.
  • Conduct self-assessments to periodically review Product Stewardship processes, procedures, regulatory datasets and tools. Use the results to drive continuous improvement.
  • Monitor emerging issues in the areas of Product Stewardship, Hazard Communication, Chemical and Transportation regulations.
  • Perform special projects at the discretion of the Director EHS or Manager, Product Stewardship.

 

*This is a hybird position with the ability to work from home 2-3 days a week an in our Cleveland office 2-3 days.*

 

Experience & Education Required 

 

  • 3 or more years of experience in the EHS regulatory field, with an emphasis on creating GHS hazard communication documents and use of SAP EHS or equivalent regulatory data management systems required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or EHS related field
  • Level III 5+ years of overall experience.
  • Level IV 8+ years of overall experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with project management methods.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically & internationally (up to 30%) and work with subsidiaries.

 

Preferred Expereince 

 

  • Subject matter expertise in chemical and Dangerous Goods regulations.
  • Working knowledge of SAP ERP system (EHS module)
  • Experience in manufacturing or design of chemical products. Familiarity with Consumable division products.
  • Experience working with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of business requirements
  • Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail and organization.
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable.
  • Completion of a Six Sigma training program.
  • EHS auditing experience, or willingness to be trained.
