PURPOSE:   An Electrical Technologist in the Plant Engineering department implements capital projects and provides engineering support for the Machine and Consumable divisions of the Cleveland Operations.  Electrical Technologists ensure the equipment on the production floor meets the corporate objective for safety, health, productivity, quality and continual improvement. 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):

  • Work in a hands-on environment as part of a team to implement projects for the Cleveland Operations production facilities.
  • Work on engineering solutions to improve equipment reliability and safety and lower operation and maintenance costs.
  • Interface with all Engineering, Manufacturing, and Maintenance departments to ensure accuracy of project requirements.
  • Ensure all safety, health, environmental, and compliance aspects for projects meet the appropriate regulation.
  • Handle medium to large sized capital projects and production support projects with minimal supervision
  • Typical assignments may include, but are not limited to:
    • Implementing the hardware design, software development, design documentation, networking, data acquisition, installation, debug, and support of the electrical projects.
    • Provide assistance troubleshooting electrical circuits with Maintenance.
    • Work with Maintenance and Production to address obsolete components and equipment.
    • Supply capital cost estimates and project timelines for completion of electrical work.
    • Review capital equipment quotations to ensure equipment meets electrical specifications.
    • Coordinate the internal and external electrical project resources during construction projects.
    • Research, recommendation, and implementation of new components and technologies.
    • Additional assignments as assigned by the supervisor.

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Four year technology degree in an engineering field or a two year associate degree with a minimum of five years of experience in an engineering field.
  • Strong desire to take ownership and drive results.
  • Work independently on a variety of assignments and manage changing priorities.
  • Must have good judgment, be self-motivated and be safety conscious.
  • Ability to perform hands on work and work effectively on the shop floor equipment and processes.
  • Ability to communicate and work with all levels of the organization.
  • Working knowledge of technical codes.  NEC 70, NEC 70E, and NFPA 79 a plus.
  • Experience with industrial components including PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs.
  • Experience with programming software including LabVIEW and Studio 5000.
  • Experience with CAD software.  AutoCAD Electrical is preferred.
  • Ability to occasionally work off shifts and between facilities in Northeastern Ohio.
