Emergency Response Supervisor

PURPOSE: This position is responsible for developing procedures, plans and programs in response to all types of emergencies and the Euclid and Mentor Plants.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES):

  • Ensures organization is prepared in the event of an emergency and indoor and outdoor evacuation procedures are in place.
  • Manages the Emergency Response Team (ETMs) and ensure their readiness for various emergency events.
  • Provide training and ensure training is completed to maintain certifications.
  • Interview and recommend ETMs.
  • Provides and/or coordinates emergency preparedness and response training to the organization including ETMs, supervision, fire wardens, security and other employees that may assist in an emergency.
  • Reviews emergency response drills and actual emergency responses and make appropriate corrections.
  • Works with Building Services to ensure the readiness of the various fire protection systems, (fixed & portable), water & chemical.
  • Works with insurance firms, fire departments, hospital emergency personnel, and other outside agencies to maintain good communication channels.
  • Advises Operations and Maintenance on relevant OSHA, NFPA and Ohio regulations affecting fire protection and emergency response.
  • Oversees other existing safety programs, which may include Fall Protection & Confined Space rescue; assist in training and auditing.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s Strategic Plan
  • Understand the Company’s EHS Policy and how it relates to this job.
  • Be aware of OSHA and EPA laws and regulations as well as the Company’s Plant Rules and Regulations that pertain to this job.
  • Work in a safe manner and observe all company EHS and JHA procedures.
  • Follow safe equipment operating procedures and only operate equipment when guards are in place and in good condition.
  • Know that the company EHS procedures are contained in reference books, such as SSW Specifications, Plant Rules and Regulations, and Material Safety Data Sheets, which are located in the Foreman’s area.
  • Immediately notify the Supervisor if there is any safety hazard, any equipment not operating correctly, or if there are any questions regarding EHS and JHA procedures.

 
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 4-7 years relevant professional experience.
  • Must have or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire EMT Basic and Firefighter I certifications. Advanced certifications in EMT and Firefighter II and Safety inspector preferred.
  • HAZWOPER certification required within 6 months of assignment.
  • Mechanical aptitude required.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred with ability to work independently and provide leadership to others.
  • Basic knowledge or experience in manufacturing and/or design of equipment helpful
  • Developed communication skills (verbally/written), organizational skills and computer skills required.
  • Must be able to stand continuously and walk up to 0.5 miles occasionally, lift up to 50 pounds rarely, climb rarely, prioritize demands and work autonomously.
