PURPOSE:   Manufacturing Engineering for Machine Divison New Products

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):

  • Assure safe, high quality, cost effective, environmentally responsible manufacturing of Lincoln’s welding machine products.  This can be in any of the several groups of the Manufacturing Engineering department.  Work can be electrical, mechanical, industrial or chemical in nature depending upon background and job assignment.
  • Engineer 2’s are entry level or junior engineers.  They are expected to be able to handle small to medium sized projects and day-to-day shop support with supervision.  Assignments may be routine or non-routine and will typically involve a mix of analysis and hands-on activities. Larger projects and more technically challenging work will need to be supported by more experienced people inside or outside the department.  Supervisors will determine the assignments.
    • Typical assignments may include but are not limited to:
    • Resolving safety, environmental and ergonomics issues
    • Process improvements and optimization
    • Cost reductions
    • Evaluation and implementation of employee suggestions
    • Development and implementation of new processes
    • Performing cost analyses
    • Shop support
    • Development of processes for and the launching of new products
    • Capacity studies
    • Quality improvements
  • Other assignments as assigned by the supervisor.

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechancial Engineering
  • 1-3 years of experience.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to handle a variety of assignment and changing priorities
  • Good computer skills
  • Good decision-making ability
  • Good written and oral communications skills
  • Able to perform hands-on work as required
  • Ability to occasionally work off shifts
  • Ability to be effective working extensively on the shop floor with employees and processes
