PURPOSE:  This individual shall contribute to the mechanical engineering deliverables for the Cleveland based robotic engineering team.   The ideal candidate shall exhibit and embrace flexibility and multiple proficiencies with respect to project assignments. The candidate will possess the ability to coordinate among cross-functional teams including applications engineering, proposals engineering, project engineering, product management, and tool design teams as a contributor for robotic welding systems.  The individual must be a committed team player and communicator and maintain balance between individual and team initiatives.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):

  • Contribute towards development, design, and testing of robot systems, work-holding solutions, end-effector content, and positioning equipment of welding or cutting robotic systems.
  • Participate on R&D and strategic projects as assigned by management.
  • Maintain project timelines and budgets (hours and material).
  • Develop and maintain costing data for assigned products.
  • Work with management to obtain quotes and cost reduction for assigned products.
  • Embrace a Continuous Improvement mentality in all assignments.
  • Actively identify and implement LEAN opportunities.
  • Ability to act as Engineering lead, designer, and detailer for ETO projects assuming full ownership for successful execution of mechanical deliverables.
  • Provide mechanical engineering support for large-scale projects with direction from senior engineers, group leaders, and management.
  • Assist in compiling documentation including drawings, master models, and technical literature.
  • Ensure that product, as designed, is in conformance with applicable standards, quote and customer purchase orders and contracts.
  • Embrace and ensure that product be designed within manufacturing and supply chain capabilities (DFM) to deliver the highest quality at the lowest cost.
  • Collaborate with peers at other geographic locations of Lincoln Automation – occasional travel shall be required.
  • Provide technical assistance to estimating, sales, applications, integration floor, and service as required.
  • Work well in a team environment.  Communication groups will include; Sales, End users, Assembly, Project Management, Engineering Teams, Management, and support functions.
  • Understanding of applicable industry standards and codes including RIA and ISO.
  • Other duties as assigned – reports to Engineering Manager.

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of applicable work experience.
  • Ideal candidates have strong 3-D modeling and design experience for weldments, sheet metal, and machined components – Solid Works is preferred.  FEA is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills is necessary.
