PURPOSE:   Supports consumable product development through executing routine to advanced tests of product performance using established procedures and work practices as well as through developing new tests

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)

  • Performs a wide range of test methods and work practices applicable to full range of consumable products to evaluate product performance and conformance to specifications
  • Familiarity with industry standards and specifications is desired
  • Assignments often require completion of a sequence of related operations, tests and evaluations
  • May lead projects or project steps within a broader project or have accountability for ongoing activities or objectives
  • Makes observations, records and reports results, and performs simple computations
  • Perform and supervise the testing of new designs, processes, warranty improvements and cost reductions
  • Collaborate with team colleagues, Methods, Manufacturing, Production, Supply, Quality and Service Departments to establish and achieve objectives
  • Engage in Voice of Customer actions and evaluate market needs. Support sales, Marketing, Service and customer issues as required.
  • Reviews, understands, and follows all procedures, EW specifications, SSW Specifications, and Plant Rules and Regulations that are associated with the performance of this job
  • Follow all safety rules, maintain the cleanliness of the work area and performs other duties as assigned by the supervision
  • Conducts and documents all work in accordance with applicable company procedures and specifications
  • Works with Technicians in an instructional manner that will continuously improve their skills and job knowledge
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed by supervision in support of the Company’s 2025 Strategy.

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Level III:

            Bachelors of Science in Engineering Technology & 5+ years of related experience or,

            - Associates Degree in related field & 7+ years of related experience or,

            - 15+ years of related experience

  • Level IV:

            - Bachelors of Science in Engineering Technology & 9+ years of related experience or,

            - Associates Degree in related field & 11+ years of related experience.

  • Ability to handle a constantly changing set of priorities
  • Proficient in the use of welding equipment and instrumentation
  • Basic knowledge of consumable product performance with a higher level of product knowledge in one or more product lines
  • Ability to understand and interpret specifications and procedures related to this job assignments
  • Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge of a particular field of specialization to the completion of complex assignments
  • Experience in design, testing and problem solving
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred but not required
  • Ability to perform hands-on work. Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills
  • Selected candidate’s Job Level and Pay Grade will be determined based upon qualifications and experience.
