PURPOSE: Assure safe, high quality, cost effective, environmentally responsible manufacturing of Lincoln’s welding equipment products.  This can be in any of the several groups of the Manufacturing Engineering department.  Work will be highly detailed development and documentation of tooling primarily for production use.  Expected to handle small to medium sized projects and day-to-day shop support with supervision.  Assignments may be routine or non-routine and will typically involve a mix of molding projects, processing and hands-on activities.  Larger projects and more technically challenging work will need to be supported by more experienced people inside or outside the department.  Supervisors will determine the assignments. Reports directly to the Manufacturing Engineer Group Leader of assigned area.



  • Define, develop, and implement efficient molding processes.
  • Support R&D and production regarding product design, material and processes.
  • Propose creative concepts and solutions to accomplish work order completion.
  • Troubleshoot and correct production tool, equipment and or process issues.
  • Establish routings, part cost data and MOQ’s.
  • Specify and approve mold tooling for plastic, powdered metal and die cast.
  • Justify and purchase new equipment and auxiliaries.
  • Implement and manage equipment installation, floor layout changes and utility improvements.
  • Create change requests, permission notes, work orders and work instructions as required.
  • Occasionally design molded parts and fixturing for support or production use.
  • Work with robot and automation program routines.
  • Train production operators in new processes or in the use of new equipment.
  • Occasional travel to subsidiary manufacturing plants and external supplier facilities may be required.
  • Implement process improvements and optimization using CI principles and tools.
  • Identify opportunities to drive non-value added waste out of processes.
  • Support the development of processes and the launching of new products.
  • Production Team support.
  • Cost analysis when developing tool designs or alternative concept and material proposals.
  • Other assignments as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s 2025 Strategy.



  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field.
  • 3+ years of experience.
  • Applicable experience in a related field or completion of the Lincoln Electric Engineering Training program.
  • Technically proficient in Solid Edge, Solid Works or an equivalent modeling software.
  • Knowledge of various molding processes, tools and materials.
  • Applicable experience with the use of measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capable of handling a variety of assignments and changing priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively on the shop floor with employees and processes.
  • Willing and able to perform hands-on work as required.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good computer skills and proficient in Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.
  • Must be self-motivated, safety and quality conscious.
  • Willing and capable of working extra hours and off shifts when required.
