Production Support Technician

PURPOSE:  To perform a variety of activities related to processing customer orders, planning, purchasing, and inventory management.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES): 

  • Assist all aspects of processing Automation customers’ orders.
  • Assist order entry and close at the end of each month
  • Provide support to shipping and receiving.
  • Assemble Robotic Systems when support is needed.
  • Help manage inventory levels.
  • Applies experience and skills to coordinate a match out program for product revisions.
  • Coordinate the issuance of RMA’s and process customer returns and credits
  • Expedite and coordinate drop ship orders to support and service Automation customer base
  • Work with customers in “robot down” situations to coordinate the delivery of the required part(s) and service help (if necessary) as quickly as possible. This includes expediting trucks, UPS/Fed-Ex (courier/air), after hours support, etc.
  • Assist the parts specialist with development of quotes and the communication of parts availability
  • Works within standard operating procedures to provide timely updates to external and internal customers regarding order and promise date status until order is shipped. Understand and work to resolve issues leading to missed promised dates
  • Assist in ensuring systems are properly costed, settled   and ensure shipping papers are generated and invoiced
  • Will use skills and experience to supply material to Automation assembly and sub-assembly stations, including material substitution or alteration as directed by Engineering
  • Responsible for return to supplier and associated debits
  • Resolve accounts payable activity in terms of supplier discrepancies
  • Cancel orders not needed in order to manage inventory projects
  • Follow-up on (and strive to minimize) overdue purchase orders
  • Participate in and initiate cost reduction projects
  • Coordinate intercompany product orders
  • Provides technical support to engineers and scientists in areas such as production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement or product development.
  • Uses schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions or defined plans to perform testing and troubleshooting on electronic or mechanical components, equipment or systems.
  • Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles and manipulates technical data using established formulae and procedures and performs detailed mathematical calculations.

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Vocational Training and 3+ years experience required; or GED with 5+ years in related field. (but does not require a university degree).
  • APICS certification preferred
  • Tow Motor and Crane preferred
  • An excellent attendance record is required
  • Proficient in the use of SAP, Excel, Word, and other software as needed
  • Knowledge of pricing policies, product lines, bills of material, procurement policies, and other related Automation processes
  • Must have excellent verbal (phone) and written communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills as this position will require significant contact with customers, suppliers, and internal Lincoln personnel
  • Must be a team player
  • Has working knowledge and skills to perform a defined set of analytical/scientific methods or operational processes
  • Applies experience and skills to complete assigned work within own area of expertise
  • Works within standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods
  • Works with a moderate degree of supervision
