Purpose: The purpose of the Prototype Technician is to provide support for new product introductions.  This includes providing components that are to be used in the verification phase of a new product.  Ensuring that the components meet manufacturing standards, are cost effective, and safe.  The Technician shall promote and adopt the continuous improvement culture by focusing on problem solving to drive improvements in the organization’s safety, quality, operational performance, customer satisfaction, and overall financial health of the company.    



  • Assure safe, high quality, cost effective, environmentally responsible prototype components to support the development of new products in the machine division.  Provide feedback to the supporting engineers to continue to provide the best product to our end customers. 
  • Technologist are expected to be able to handle small to medium sized projects and day-to-day shop support with some supervision.  Assignments may be routine or non-routine and will typically involve a mix of analysis and hands-on activities. Larger projects and more technically challenging work will need to be supported by more experienced people inside or outside the department. Supervisors will determine the assignments.
  • Typical assignments may include but are not limited to:
    • Assembly of electrical harnesses
    • Design and programming of harness boards
    • General Assembly
    • Cost reductions
    • Continuous Improvement initiatives
    • Work with production to drive the manufacture of components
    • Other assignments as assigned by the supervisor
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s 2025 Strategy.



  • Vocational Training and 5+ years experience required; or GED with 7+ years in related field. (but does not require a university degree).
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to handle a variety of assignment and changing priorities
  • Good computer skills
  • Good decision-making ability
  • Good written and oral communications skills
  • Able to perform hands-on work as required
  • Ability to be effective working extensively on the shop floor with employees and processes
