PURPOSE: To assist injured workers in the management of their care for a safe and timely return to work post injury.  This includes assistance with scheduling medical appointments, attending external appointments with the employee, evaluating job functions, placement in alternate work assignments and final return to full duty.  Follows all applicable rules set by the State of Ohio Workers’ Compensation system.



  • Manage all lost time Workers’ Compensation claims utilizing the three point contact method
  • Evaluate medical care using standard guidelines, intervening as needed
  • Work closely with the Medical Director, Occupational Health Manager and WC Manager on claim-related issues and coordination of Return to Work (RTW)
  • Review for approval requested medical services submitted by treating physician
  • Review and request external case management on complicated cases, as needed
  • Act as resource for non-occupational medical disability cases
  • Analyze jobs, recommend modifications, and follow up to facilitate changes for RTW goal as needed
  • Assist with transitional work program
  • Counsel injured employees and serve as their advocate
  • Other duties as assigned by the Medical Department Manager
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s 2025 Strategy.



  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • CPR Card
  • Three to five years case management experience 
  • Self-insured employer experience desirable
  • Certified Case Manager (CCM) desirable
  • Nursing or Vocational Rehabilitation background
  • Experience in non-occupational disability management desirable
  • Good conflict management skills
  • Ability to handle a constantly changing series of priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills, professional ethics, sound judgment, exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of office methods, equipment and practices, PC software packages, and network systems
