PURPOSE: This position leverages practical, hands-on equipment test and validation expertise, under engineering guidance, to continuously improve new products, subsystems, changes to existing product, critical manufacturing and supplier processes and reliability modeling and prediction. Typically this position will work with an engineer to implement reliability engineering methods that are most applicable to our organization’s goal of achieving significant results in product reliability.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):

  • Create test and validation setups for component, subsystem and machine levels that exhibit safety focused, professional quality, ergonomic, and environmentally responsible methods.
  • Work can be electrical, mechanical, industrial or chemical in nature depending upon background and job assignment.
  • Use lab equipment such as meters, oscilloscopes, and various data recorders, environmental chambers, vibration tables, EMC related, etc.(training provided as needed).
  • Communicate and work with other engineering and technical staff.
  • Interact professionally with external resources such as test labs, consultants, and suppliers.
  • Create failure analysis and validation test reports such as DVP&Rs.
  • Identify and help address extreme failure modes using test methods such as HALT, and ALT.
  • Assist reliability engineers in creating new test standards and data recording methods.
  • Make recommendations for improving test efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assist engineers in the development of design guides that make use of lessons learned.
  • Assist engineers in performing audits on machines targeted for reliability improvement.
  • Work with engineers on warranty, scrap and cost reductions, and reliability prediction projects.
  • Identify opportunities to generalize solutions found in one area to other applicable areas.
  • Assist engineers in correlating test results to product in service reliability expectations.
  • Support projects that align with strategic corporate goals or programs.
  • Review progress and perform other duties as needed or assigned.

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
  • Science related courses and previous Lincoln work experience helpful
  • Ability to read (or learn) and comprehend wiring diagrams, schematics
  • Six sigma and CAD training preferred but not required
  • Able to perform hands-on work, occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Good verbal and written communication and organizational skills
