PURPOSE:  To participate as an engineer on the development of Lincoln’s Education products, this includes the VRTEX and RealWeld products.  This will involve design of new mechanical, electrical, and software systems pertaining to virtual and augmented reality welding training.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):

  • Work in an R&D environment on the design and development of Lincoln’s new welding training products
  • Assists in developing  the total system architecture for a project with internal and external partners
  • Work can be electrical, mechanical, and industrial in nature depending on the given product
  • Interact professionally and effectively as a liaison between external resources such as equipment suppliers, consultants and technical organizations
  • Test, maintain, and modify existing systems
  • Usually works with minimum supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters
  • Assignments are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity
  • Provide customer support and machine diagnostics for new as well as legacy systems
  • Evaluate systems for quality improvements and cost reductions
  • Work with other internal stakeholders to setup and support production lines
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
     

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's in Engineering degree is required.  Mechanical, Electrical, or Software desired.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Ability to handle a constantly changing set of priorities
  • Self-Motivated to drive the development of new technology
  • Knowledge of compliance certifications (CE, CSA, RoHS)
  • Understanding of computer hardware pertaining to video gaming applications a plus
  • Understanding of virtual reality hardware and software a plus
