PURPOSE:   Primary responsibilities are to provide strategic and tactical support for the Alloy Consumables Strategic Business Unit (SBU). The relevant product groups for this position Stainless Steel and Nickel Alloy Consumables. The strategic activities include product life cycle management, market research, business case creation and new product development. This position will focus on execution of profitable revenue growth strategies for all Alloy Consumables.  Tactical activities include product training, forecasting, marketing, and reporting.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):

  • Subject Matter Expert – Tasked with developing an in-depth understanding of alloy consumable products, manufacturing, supply chains, application solutions, and value propositions to support customer focus and profitable revenue growth
  • Market Research – Manage the continuous research process to capture voice of consumer information, industry trends, competitive intelligence and more
  • Business Case Creation  – Work independently or with SBU leadership to propose data driven product improvements or new product types which drive incremental sales and profitable growth
  • New Product Development – Work with dedicated engineering team as marketing/business stakeholder throughout the new product development process
  • New Product Launches – Create launch strategies and commercially implement with our sales, marketing and IT groups
  • Product Training & Support – Provide technical product support for end-users, distributors and Lincoln personnel on relevant product lines
  • Mature Product Management – Broad range of activities which include creating strategic product promotions, managing inventory, forecasting demand, and business process continuous improvements
  • Sales Channel Support – Define and drive activities related to sales channel strategies for effective growth in distribution, direct, export and e-commerce sales channels
  • Financial Analysis – Basic to intermediate financial acumen to monitor financial performance and forecast near term performance of relevant product lines
  • Strategic Planning – Work with SBU leadership on 3 to 5 year product category planning
  • Reports to the Director Business Development, Alloy Consumables
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s 2025 Strategy.

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in Marketing, Engineering, Business or relevant experience
  • Minimum six (6) years of relevant experience preferably in Sales, Marketing, Engineering or Product Management
  • Understanding of welding practices, procedures, and products preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on tactical projects across multiple areas of the organization
  • Demonstrate a strong business acumen or the desire to learn relatively quickly
  • Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions
  • May lead projects or project steps within a broader project or have accountability for ongoing activities or objectives
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues
  • Advanced core computer software skills (Microsoft Office Suite & SAP), or the ability to learn relatively quickly
  • Prior experience with product marketing and e-commerce businesses is a plus
  • Ability to handle a constantly changing set of priorities
  • Fluent in spoken and written English, with good public speaking ability
  • Willing to travel approximately 15% of the time
