PURPOSE: To organize and follow all special testing required to meet the requirements specified on Customer Orders accepted by The Specials Department.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):

  • Reviews and approves schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions or defined plans on Special Order testing and creates corresponding testing orders for Testing Services on Lot Controlled materials/products.
  • Provides technical support in areas such as safety, quality, process improvement, R&D and welding services.
  • Tracks progress on Testing Orders and coordinates with Testing Services to set testing priorities.
  • Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles and reviews technical data using established formulae and procedures and confirms conformance to customer and Lincoln Electric specifications.
  • Approves Test Certificates for Lot Control products and keeps thorough records.
  • Initiates and tracks Root Cause investigations for nonconforming test results. Participates and assists on Root Cause investigations.
  • Initiates disposition paperwork/documentation for nonconforming materials.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s 2025 Strategy, including continuous improvement (CI) activities.

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Vocational Training and 5 to 8+ years of experience required; or GED with 7 to 10+ years in a related field, but does not require a university degree.
  • Has full proficiency in a range of technical processes or procedures or advanced and specialized expertise, through job-related training and considerable work experience. 
  • Completes a variety of atypical assignments, and is capable of multi-tasking. Proposes improvements to processes.
  • Must have an understanding of all welding processes, NDT processes and procedures, and destructive testing procedures for appropriate interpretation of test results.
  • Must be able to understand and interpret industrial specifications and procedures (such as ASME, AASHTO, military, specific customers, etc.).
  • May act as a lead, coordinating and facilitating the work of others but is not a supervisor.
  • Works with a limited degree of supervision. Also works well as part of a team, and supports a cooperative work environment.
  • Computer proficiency, including use of Microsoft Office and other software.
  • Must be self-motivated, and dedicated to safe work practices and product quality.
