Technologist - Molding & Tooling Services

PURPOSE: This position is responsible for providing Technical assistance for Molding & Tooling Services, ensuring quality of products.  This includes troubleshooting, partnering with Research & Development and supporting Lincoln Subsidiaries when needed.



  • Defines, develops and implements efficient molding processes.
  • Supports Research & Development and production regarding product design, material and processes.
  • Troubleshoots and corrects production tool, equipment and/or process issues.
  • Establishes routings, part cost data and MOQ’s (Minimum Order Quantity).
  • Specifies and approves mold tooling for plastic, powdered metal and die cast.
  • Justifies and purchases new equipment and auxiliaries.
  • Implements and manages equipment installation, floor layout changes and utility improvements.
  • Creates change requests, permission notes, work orders and work instructions
  • Designs molded parts and fixturing for support or production use.
  • Works with robot and automation program routines
  • Trains production operators in new processes or in the use of new equipment.
  • May travel to subsidiary manufacturing plants and external supplier facilities
  • Supports the ISO 9001, 14001 and all safety initiatives in the Machine Division.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities or special projects in support of Lincoln Electric’s 2025 Business Plan.


  • Bachelor of Science Technology Degree with minimum of 3 yrs experience or minimum of Associate Technology Degree with 8 years Lincoln Experience equivalent. Minimum of 15 years Lincoln Experience with no degree
  • Knowledge of various molding processes, tools and materials
  • Sound judgement skills and established organizational skills
  • Ability to seek opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
  • Six sigma experience preferred along with statistical process control
  • Project management experience helpful
  • Ability to perform hands-on experience
  • Knowledge and experience with current office equipment such as MS Office.
  • Demonstrated communication skills with upper management and manufacturing employees.
