Leads the business development activities in the Defense industry segment with a particular emphasis on the U.S. Navy, in particular replacing cast and forged components with additively manufactured components, by building key customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, negotiating and closing business deals, and maintaining knowledge of current market conditions. Establishes the strategic sales goals and formulates plans to makes sure goals are met.




  • Research prospective accounts in targeted markets, pursue leads, and follow through to a successful agreement.
  • Review DOD contracts and technical publications/specifications.
  • Understand the target markets, including industry, company, project, company contacts, and which market strategies can be used to attract clients.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and sales teams to ensure that requirements are met, and follow through orders to delivery.
  • Maintain relationships with current clients and identify new prospects.
  • Possess a strong understanding of our value proposition, product offering, our competition in the industry, and positioning.
  • Follow the latest industry developments and stay up-to-date on competitors.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s 2025 Strategy.




  • Bachelor’s degree required. Post-graduate degrees desired, but not necessary.
  • Five to ten years proven track record in business sales or related activities in the defense markets.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with emphasis on priorities and goal setting.
  • Superior presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strategic thinking.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking abilities.
  • Technical skills required to understand and propose products or solutions by focusing on client requirements, including well-versed in welding metallurgy and mechanics of materials.
  • Ability to communicate information, whether technical or non-technical to staff members and customers, in a clear and concise manner.
  • This position requires traveling.
  • Selected candidate’s Job Level and Pay Grade will be determined based upon qualifications and experience.
