Position Summary:  The Lead Controls Engineer works with limited or no direct supervision.  The position serves in a supervisor capacity to the Controls department approving time off, conducting performance appraisals, handling performance issues, and generally facilitating the team concept.  Responsible for organizing, planning and follow-up of complex activities for engineered projects to meet or exceed management and customer expectations. Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors and summarizes progress of project.  The Lead Controls Engineer will work together with their supervisor, other department leads and others on the Controls team to create, update and improve upon best practices and department processes/procedures. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for day to day management of Lincoln’s control engineering group 
  • Lead and manage the controls group to always be on time and under budget
  • Lead Control Standardization / Best Practices to deliver high quality, robust and easy to use electrical products
  • Develop the vision for the Lincoln Electric electrical products together with Staff and the controls group.  Lead continuous efforts to achieve this vision
  • Lead the performance management of the controls department
  • Lead the recruitment and development of controls talent
  • Coaching and constant development of the control engineers and their competence
  • Lead training efforts to ensure that everyone in the company understands and can support our controls products
  • Contribute personally on customer projects

 

Qualifications Required:

  • BSEE or Associates Degree in electronics / control system
  • AutoCAD / Electrical, schematic capture CAD experience
  • Electrical circuit design and analysis experience
  • Proficiently read and interpret electrical prints
  • Ability to use common electrical troubleshooting tools; i.e. Digital Volt Meter and Oscilloscope
  • Ability to develop and document procedures 
  • Excellent electrical troubleshooting skills 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required 
  • Proficient at ladder logic programming
  • Previous experience leading teams of engineers
  • Good communication and organizational skills required
  • Must be able to work flexible hours as needed; travel is occasional
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures necessary to build electrical products
  • Position relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals on a variety of tasks

 

Qualifications Desired:

  • Five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Allen Bradley Compact Logic experience preferred
  • Closed loop Servo experience (Yaskawa)
  • ABB Robotics control system knowledge
  • FANUC Robotics control system knowledge
  • FANUC PMC Programming Experience
  • Familiarity with Robotic automation safety
  • Familiarity with Electrical standards (ANSII, NFPA, ISO)
  • Laser Safety knowledge

  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and sit. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. There is extensive use of a computer, and at times work can be sedentary.
  • Work environment: Normal office environment and work on the manufacturing floor. While performing the duties of the position, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme heat, and extreme cold.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel is minimal.

 

Wage Rate: $80,080.00 - $148,720.00
