Position Summary:  With little or no supervision, ensures the proper inventory of all material including but not limited to cycle-counting, storage location, and inventory reconciliation.  Procures manufacturing materials, tools, supplies, and services, in accordance with approved Engineering Sales Orders (ESOs), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).  Develops and executes programs and procedures that ensure the accuracy and availability of production parts and supplies. Negotiates best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements.  Performs follow-up on purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of critical parts. 

           

Primary responsibilities:

  • Verify receipt of items; compare items received to items ordered; resolve shipments in error
  • Ensure the quality and storage location of goods and materials received
  • Develop and execute cycle-counting program that meets the needs of the business and conforms to audit standards; ensure all inventory is accounted for
  • Create and maintain accurate written procedures for the primary inventory control functions and processes
  • Investigate and correct discrepancies in reported quantities and locations of all inventory
  • Create daily reports to control key critical areas that affect parts availability  to the production floor
  • Perform daily analysis of current/pending jobs to predict and proactively resolve inventory problems
  • Serve as liaison between production and product managers, coordinating and communicating adjustments to daily/weekly production schedules to meet customer demand.
  • Process ESOs and ECOs on a daily basis
  • Work closely with engineers, project managers and suppliers to resolve any issues with ESOs and ECOs
  • Purchase parts and select shipping method based on delivery date and Project Manager’s approval
  • Ensure that parts have been acknowledged and have promise dates from vendors within a week of PO Issue date.
  • Knowledge of suppliers, costs, terms, and current lead times
  • Research and resolve invoice problems
  • Support technicians in field by processing emergency orders
  • Participate in Project Kick-off meetings, Build Review meetings, and Engineering Huddles
  • Qualifications required
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Five years’ experience purchasing in a manufacturing environment
  • Computer literacy required, including experience in an ERP or MRP system
  • Thorough working knowledge of purchasing policies, processes and procedures
  • Ability to perform extremely detailed work with a high degree of accuracy in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively as a team player and to carry out assignments accurately
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Work is a mix of sedentary and walking. There is extensive use of a computer terminal, keyboard and telephone. There is occasional reaching, bending and lifting in relationship to documents and stored records. This individual may have to sit for long periods of time. Traveling is occasional; hours may be irregular.

  • Work environment: Normal office environment, with some time spent on manufacturing floor and visiting suppliers.

 

Wage Rate: $27,398.00 - $50,882.00
