Position Summary: 

This position is responsible to develop new industrial robotics technologies in an innovative and entrepreneurial environment.  This position will interpret complex and ill-defined requirements and develop them into elegant and creative software solutions. This position will work effectively with and challenge other experienced developers at all stages of the software development life-cycle including requirements analysis, high-level design, low-level algorithms, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

We are looking for a passionate individual to deliver software for industrial robotic systems.  The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert in industrial robotics and work effectively with a small team of developers at all levels of software development including low-level algorithm design, high-level architectures, requirements analysis, testing, and deployment.  Responsibilities will include:  interfacing to industrial equipment, writing custom software, maintaining existing software products, documenting functionality, interacting with customers.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and develop software for industrial robotic systems
  • Serve as subject matter expert for ABB IRC5 WolfWare and WolfArc products
  • Work "hands-on" with industrial robotic systems (both ABB and Fanuc)
  • Work at all level of the software engineering process (analysis, architecture & design, development, documentation, integration, test, etc.)
  • Proactively gather requirements directly from users & sales people
  • Form strategies to solve complex, ill-defined problems
  • Write high quality code (well designed, readable, testable, efficient, etc.)
  • Document and maintain various codebases
  • Keeps job knowledge current through continual studying of latest development methodologies and technologies
  • Communicate effectively in a small team of software engineering professionals
  • Ability to work independently
  • User interface design
  • Maintain sufficient personal organization to enable effective multi-tasking and strong attention to detail
  • Recommend improvement to existing software and/or the creation of new software
  • Create software tools to automate processes and metrics

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years working with industrial robots, automation equipment, vision systems, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic software development fundamentals (object oriented design, etc.)
  • Experience developing software for industrial robotic platforms (ABB & Fanuc platforms required)
  • The innate desire to derive satisfaction from a job well done and to seek out challenging (and rewarding) tasks
  • BS in computer science, computer/electrical/mechanical engineering or other related field

  • Physical demands: Work is usually a mix of sedentary and walking.  Use of the telephone is extensive. In the office there is minimal reaching, bending and lifting in relationship to documents and stored records. When at a customer facility, there will be lifting, reaching, bending, dragging, pulling and carrying of parts and equipment.  This individual may have to walk long distances to reach the equipment within the customer’s facility.
  • Work environment: This individual may have to sit for long periods of time. The noise level is usually moderate. Traveling may be unplanned and immediate; hours may be irregular.

 

Wage Rate: $91,409.00 - $169,759.00
