Position Summary

Interfaces with customers and all levels of cross-functional personnel to manage the design and manufacture of complex, automated material handling, welding, and positioning equipment.

The Project Manager will plan and direct activities required for on-time delivery of equipment that conforms to customer requirements as well as the company’s budget.  He/she will identify, evaluate and report the status of assigned projects. Deviations from the plan and associated issues are addressed in person or through issue escalation.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned projects resulting in compliance with performance criteria, timing and budget
  • Manage assigned projects resulting in high level of customer satisfaction
  • Perform contact review and order acknowledgement
  • Facilitate customer and internal kick-off meeting
  • Support  and monitor design activities, facilitate customer approvals
  • Support  and monitor purchasing  activities
  • Support  and monitor manufacturing  activities
  • Facilitate internal and external run-off
  • Facilitate shipping process and installation at customer site
  • Ensure final acceptance and payment
  • Coordinate execution of customer site activities, incl. commissioning or start-up support
  • Responsible for scope management
  • Maintain order change process and associated documentation
  • Maintain open issue documentation and facilitate timely issue resolution
  • Regularly report on the status of assigned projects relative to timing, budget and issues

                   

Education and Experience

  • 4 year college degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, with 5 year experience  in mechanical design
  • High school diploma with demonstrated 8 year experience in a project engineering capacity may be acceptable
  • Prior supervisory experience is a plus
  • Must have excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be capable of interfacing with personnel at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong computer skills, especially in MS Project, Excel, Power Point and Word.
  • Working knowledge of 2D and 3D engineering designs and practices
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing factory equipment, systems and processes.
  • Must have the ability to lead, assign tasks and mentor people
  • Must have strong problem solving skills
  • Desire to grow with the company and assume increasing responsibility

  • Work environment:  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
