PURPOSE: Plant Engineering implements capital projects and provides engineering support for the Consumable and Machine divisions of the Cleveland Operations.  The Designer/Drafter is responsible for the CAD modelling and drafting needs for the Mentor Production Support Group and also gets involved with minor mechanical design and project work as required in order to help the group meet their goals.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)

  • Support Plant Engineers through development and/or modification of detailed CAD models and drawings.
  • Support & train users on Solid Edge.
  • Maintain mechanical CAD procedures and standards.
  • Verify and resolve issues with CAD documentation that does meet the defined Plant Engineering  standard.
  • Maintain and update the Mentor Plant Layout CAD file.
  • Support Common Services fabrication through the creation of supporting files (dxf , pdf, pcf ).
  • Support local machine shops with issues on Lincoln Prints.
  • Support Maintenance on creating prints from physical parts.
  • Document existing production and facility support equipment.
  • Work with Electrical CAD Administrator on Mentor Support Group electrical CAD files.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
  • Design mechanical parts and assemblies to support Maintenance & Engineering projects
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s 2025 Strategy.

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of a High School Education
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in design and drafting.
  • Technically proficient in Solid Edge (Microstation & AutoCAD a plus).
  • Experience with the use of measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers is a plus
  • Must be organized and pay attention to details.
  • Self-motivated with a high level of commitment.
  • Able to work independently and as a team player.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Perform in a fast paced environment on multiple assignments.
  • Able to work on production floor to aid in equipment measurements and design concepts.
