PURPOSE: Leads and coordinates the activities of the Mentor Cored Wire production operations. Reports to the General Manager, Mentor Consumables.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)

  • Direct, lead, and coordinate all activities of the production operations and personnel
  • Develop and continually improve work practices to achieve Quality and EHS performance goals
  • Understand and communicate production requirements to production personnel
  • Drive production quality, accuracy, and efficiency within the department
  • Manage materials to ensure proper inventory levels to sustain efficient operations and cost controls
  • Assist with upstream and downstream operational functions to support customer order fulfillment
  • Foster an atmosphere that promotes continuous improvement of employees and processes
  • Conduct departmental performance ratings for all personnel
  • Initiate personnel action, such as hiring, promotions, transfers, discharges, or disciplinary measures
  • Aid in the development of manufacturing methods, equipment, and training
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s 2025 Strategy.

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; Technical or Engineering degree preferred
  • Prior management or supervisory experience and/or some supervisory training required
  • Able to communicate and deal effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Strong customer focus
  • Uncompromising attitude toward safety, environment, health, and quality
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and motivational skills
  • Ability to handle employee and production issues in an efficient and professional manner
  • Ability to initiate and implement change while gaining acceptance from employees
  • Basic computer skills including proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, SAP, and Apriso
  • Knowledge of relevant company policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to understand and interpret the specifications and procedures related to this job
  • Must be self-motivated, safety and quality conscious
