Lincoln Electric Cutting Systems, a subsidiary of Lincoln Electric, is the manufacturing headquarters for both Torchmate® and Vernon Tool® branded product lines. We manufacture CNC plasma cutting machines for two distinct markets: pipe profiling (Vernon Tool), and plate cutting (Torchmate).

Job Summary:  We are recruiting a drafter to work within our engineering department. The highly-trained drafter will work with design engineers to develop plasma cutting tables and complimentary products.

The successful candidate will be experienced, focused with a keen eye for detail to produce accurate, clear, concise design and manufacturing drawings. They will be capable of making decisions about the level of detail to include. The drafter will work with design engineers during the full development life cycle from ideation to launch.  


Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow specifications and perform calculations to create technical drawings and 3D CAD Models
  • Prepare rough sketches and detailed drawings using Solid Edge, AutoCad, and Autocad Electrical
  • Perform calculations for materials and constraints set by the design engineer
  • Provide technical support to production departments as required
  • Perform general shop duties as assigned and assist in other areas as required
  • Organize & communicate engineering print releases during the NPD & ECO processes
  • Prepare rough sketches, detailed drawings, and 3D models using Solid Edge, AutoCad, and Autocad Electrical
  • Translate legacy documents into solid models using Solid Edge, AutoCad, and Autocad Electrical
  • Communicate with engineers incorporating knowledge gained into drawings
  • Prepare, review and draft alongside the engineering team
  • Ensure final designs are compliant with appropriate internal processes and compliance regulations
  • Identify and communicate potential design problems


Education and Experience

  • Associate’s degree or completion of a technical trade school, in CAD, drafting, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience drafting in a similar environment
  • Experience using ERP software (SAP preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrable competence with Solid Edge, AutoCad, Autocad Electrical
  • Ability to draw freehand is favorable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and possess and sense of urgency
  • Commitment and adherence to all safety policies and procedures.


Working Conditions

  • Manufacturing environment; may be exposed to loud noises, changing temperatures, and machinery with moving parts.

  • Physical demands:  While performing duties of job, employee must be physically able to push, pull, bend, stoop, climb, reach and stand/walk on concrete floors for long periods of time. Must be physically able frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
