Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Lincoln Electric Cutting Systems, a subsidiary of Lincoln Electric, is the manufacturing headquarters for both Torchmate® and Vernon Tool® branded product lines. We manufacture CNC plasma cutting machines for two distinct markets: pipe profiling (Vernon Tool), and plate cutting (Torchmate).

Under the direction of the General Manager, the Manufacturing Engineering Manager will manage all aspects of the Manufacturing Engineering and fabrication departments including defining the state of operations, defining standardized work, design processes, define machine loading, managing processes control plans, and management of machine functions. S/he will be responsible for leading the teams overseeing the manufacturing and fabrication methods of products with a focus safety, quality, delivery, and cost-savings.  The candidate will lead technical projects, implement lean manufacturing techniques, automate processes, and maintain manufacturing documentation.  Communication and collaboration with other engineering groups and management across the broader company is essential.



Job Duties and Responsibilities   

  • Manage the Engineering team responsible for developing facility improvements including property, process, and systems
  • Oversee and implement methods in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies
  • Support attainment of key metrics such as: Safety, FPY, Warranty, On-time Delivery, Productivity, Inventory Turns
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement
  • Continuously optimize manufacturing layouts and improve production & test processes in terms of efficiency, yield, and cost
  • Maintain all related manufacturing documentation including 3D-models, prints, BOM’s, routings, work center standards, and Takt times
  • Make proposals for tooling and process requirements for new and existing product lines
  • Implement and manage control plans, PFMEAs
  • Lead and direct the workforce to manage budgets and achieve manufacturing metrics
  • Work in new product development teams to ensure successful new product launches
  • Develop a team of engineers and technicians including training, mentoring, performance management and staffing
  • Oversee review and approval manufacturing change requests
  • Prepare and present reports to organizational leadership
  • Perform all job duties modeling behaviors to support and reinforce all company policies and procedures including wearing appropriate PPE
  • All other duties as assigned


Edication and EXxperience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related technical degree
  • Minimum of 8 years leading technical personnel and projects in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing techniques
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • High level of professionalism and integrity
  • Uncompromising attitude toward safety, quality, and customer service
    • Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills including ability to communicate with employees at all levels within the company
    • Project management experience
  • Experience in a capital equipment manufacturing or other automation environments
  • Experience and/or knowledge of plasma cutting process
  • Use of multiple computer programs (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to use project management tools such as MS Project or Clarity
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Experience building quality into processes including flow and assurance plans
  • Experience in production planning and control preferred
  • ASQ or other Lean certifications preferred
  • Experience working in a machine shop environment preferred
