Job Summary

We are recruiting a mechanical engineer to work within our engineering department. The highly-trained engineer will work with our design engineers to develop plasma cutting tables and complimentary products.

 

The successful candidate will be creative, inquisitive, analytical, diligently focused on designing new products and upgrades to our existing portfolio. Responsibilities, but not limited to, full cycle development of new products from ideation to launch applying mechanical and electrical knowledge, creating unit and system test plans, executing test plans and liaise with manufacturing to complete design for manufacture reviews and handover to cross functional departments.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strong electrical and mechanical problem solving skills with ability to translate into products
  • Design and develop flat, pentaxial and rotary metal cutting systems
  • Use analytics and models to support design decisions
  • Provide technical support to production departments as required
  • Perform general shop duties as assigned and assist in other areas as required
  • Develop design documents for mechanical parts and assemblies
  • Apply Mechanical design knowledge to ensure designs are robust for operating harsh environments
  • Interpret and apply compliance requirements
  • Create test plans applying analytical methods to prove design meets criteria
  • Model Mean Time Before Failure
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs
  • Adhere to all health and safety requirements
    • All other duties as assigned

 

Education and Experience

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3 – 5 years previous experience
  • Understanding material science and/or thermal dynamics is beneficial
  • Proficient with 2D and 3D CAD tools. (Solid Edge, AutoCad, AutoCad Electrical)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products; Excel, Word, Power point
  • Strong mathematics and analytical skills
  • Ability to fully utilize shop procedures and mathematics to execute job
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and possess and sense of urgency

 

Physical Demand and Work Environment

  • Physical demands:  While performing duties of job, employee is occasionally required to sit for extended periods of time; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.   Repetition with activity; computer work. 
  • Manufacturing environment; may be exposed to loud noises, changing temperatures, and machinery with moving parts.
