Summary of Position
Improves current manufacturing processes to boost productivity, quality, and profitability for the company. Works with production and quality team members to identify and mitigate risks, support, and ensure equipment is operated safely, processes are being run by procedure. Develops manufacturing standards, root cause and corrective action when required. Monitors and analyzes manufacturing process yields/cost, identifies issues and develops improvement steps. Completes RFQ’s accurately and in a timely manner. Entry level of three level job family.
Key Deliverables
Works safely and supports safety within their team across the organization, timely completion of projects, corrective actions, and leads proactive process improvements. Participates in team meetings and collaborates with teams to complete projects.
Key Accountability Metrics
Safety metrics, RFQ completion percentage, in-depth SOP’s for all machines, Lean Project Completion, ECR completion.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Include the following and other duties assigned.
Works safely and supports safety within their team and across the organization.
Engineering support– 80%
- Understands processes, equipment functionality and desired outcome.
- Proactive process improvements using various six sigma tools such as FMEA, Cause and Effect, Control Charts, etc.
- Guides reduction efforts for reduction of Mfg. Cost and Cost of inadequate quality
- Interprets drawing and spec requirements and translates into robust manufacturing processes.
- Works with production teams to ensure correct procedures and work instructions are in place and followed.
- Assesses safety requirements and makes recommendations to integrate improvements to processes and equipment.
- Works with production and ensure SAP run times are accurate
- Works with teams to utilize lean tools: 5s, visual factory concepts in maintaining order, cleanliness, and delivery of downstream value
- Supports sustaining engineering requirements such as Engineering Change Requests (ECRS) and New Part Requests (NPRs) that require costing and the creation of routers
- Works with teams to ensure tooling is in place for existing equipment and reviews this when improvements are made or tooling/ parts are obsoleted
Team based problem solving/projects – 20%
- Works on cost savings projects, Six Sigma projects and provides support for other team meetings and projects.
- Researches, designs and draws sketches from initial concepts and ideas for various products and equipment.
- Presents designs, drawings, cost estimates, and project plans for review.
- Reviews and coordinates project timeline for completion with support teams
- Tracks project costs and project improvement savings.
- Provides periodic reports on the status of project milestones.
- Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget
- Works with teams to ensure training takes place for effected team members on process changes, machine improvements or new processes/equipment.
- Employs “Value Stream Mapping” and other continuous improvement tools for assigned areas of responsibility,
- Root Cause and Corrective Action Process.
- Knowledge of Quality Systems; (i.e., ISO, SPC, Continuous Improvement or Lean Mfg.)
