Summary of the Position:  This position is responsible for leading the general operation teams of the Harris Products Group Alabama location which may include Manufacturing, Maintenance, Scheduling, and Process to ensuring successful completion of goals and objectives Operational  areas include but are not limited to:  completing production work schedules; employee selection, training, and performance evaluation; rewarding & counseling employees in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. This position is critical for achieving customer service, plant efficiency and inventory objectives.  Incumbent completes these tasks by performing the following duties personally or through others. Travel to other facilities and/or suppliers may be required.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions: include the following and other duties may be assigned.

 

Directly Supervise Operational Supervisors/Area - 60%

Responsible for goal setting, technology improvement, and problem resolution within the teams.

Monitors weekly and Monthly production schedules and support in the manufacturing environment

Ensures customer Fill rates are met.

Works with scheduling to review and analyze inventory levels to ensure inventory accuracy on Work Orders

Holds weekly production meetings to discuss departmental metrics and targets for each production area.

Provides monthly performance reports to manager

Works with Purchasing to ensure that all necessary materials are on order and will be received in a timely manner

Supports and enforces company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

Ensures Production budget targets are met

Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operations of all facility functions.

Ensures all safety and environmental policies and procedures are followed.

Responsible for evaluating products, processes, and facilities to ensure HPG’s is properly positioned to compete in the global market place

Will be called upon to make sound decisions within compressed timelines and to balance multiple projects and objectives concurrently.

Establishes a manufacturing culture that utilizes Lean Six Sigma tools to focuses on providing the resources needed to improve the work environment and accomplish the task of providing the highest level of customer service, thus sustaining continual growth and profitability.

Coordinates activities and objectives with corporate business teams, Operations staff, and other functions as appropriate

Benchmarks, communicates and implements best practices, in their area of responsibility so that successes, failures, and obstacles can be identified, communicated and leveraged across other projects.

 

Team Based problem Solving/Projects – 30%

Leads cross-functional teams to facilitate optimal departmental performance

Analyzes opportunities, develops and implements solutions to enhance the area processes

Activities include scheduling process improvement, increase inventory turns, cycle counts, cost reduction efforts, statistical analysis, as well as utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodology, and teamwork

Completes assigned Plant projects on time and within budget.

 

Inventory Support - 10%

Supports Cycle program for all areas of responsibility in the plant

Analyses inventory negative balances and Work Order variances to correct inventories

Ensures annual physical inventory for assigned departments is completed on time and according to company policies and procedures

Maintains inventory turns target for assigned departments

 

Education and/or Experience:                  

Minimum three (3) years business management experience in a manufacturing environment, showing career progression with stability and increasing levels of responsibility.

Ability to relate well with plant personnel at all levels.

Implementation of Lean/6 Sigma manufacturing programs

BS degree in a technical or business discipline.

Working knowledge of metals fabrication and assembly industry preferred

SAP utilization and implementation
