Summary:  This position is located in Florence, Alabama. Works with all departments and Suppliers to achieve a Total Quality culture throughout the organization by performing the following duties personally or through others.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Coordinates internal / external ISO 9001 audits & maintains the ISO management systems.
  • Provides Quality engineering leadership and support in the manufacturing environment by promoting quality philosophies, principles, systems, methods, tools, and standards
  • Design, install, and evaluate quality control systems, procedures, and statistical techniques that are critical to quality
  • Analyze process data and recommend engineering changes to improve quality
  • Will be able to plan, control, and assure product and process quality in accordance with quality principles, which include planning processes, material control, acceptance sampling, and measurement systems
  • Perform Audits and inspections to insure compliance with all regulatory agencies
  • Design tests to validate process and product specifications
  • Analyzes opportunities, develops and implements solutions for existing products and processes through collaboration with other engineering, operations and technical personnel
  • Provides Quality engineering services to moderately complex and specialized projects which lead to new or improved systems, constructions, materials or manufacturing processes in accordance with sound engineering principles, policies and controls
  • Activities include process improvement, product design, equipment, cost reduction efforts, statistical analysis, as well as utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodology, teamwork and other engineering system tools
  • Develop and maintain product process control documentation
  • Support daily issues; protect flow and respond to daily customer demand
  • Performance data gathering & analysis, Inspection / Quality planning
  • Lead cross-functional teams to facilitate new product introductions, process and procedural changes using DMAIC and Kaizen to identify and eliminate root cause of process issues


Supervisory Responsibilities:                                                

May manage quality specialists (floor auditing) and other specialists in the absence of the Quality Process Manager.

Education and/or Experience:                                               

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  (Machining, Engineering, Quality disciplines)
  • Quality Engineering experience in a primary metals manufacturing environment is preferred (preferred Lean organization). 
  • Minimum of five years of quality control experience, including Quality tools and statistical analysis, ISO 9001 & 14001, AS9100 experience is a plus.
  • Excellent computer skills; Effective written and verbal communication; Ability to simultaneously execute multiple assignments; Problem solving; and Project management
  • SAP knowledge a plus
  • A Six Sigma Black Belt is preferred with experience in introducing and implementing cellularization and Lean tool use, selection and applications in a manufacturing environment, MSA design and implementation is preferred.
  • Experience as a site ISO management representative is preferred.
