Position Summary:  The Shift Supervisor is responsible for directing the activities of employees engaged in production in the department.  This position oversees day-to-day operations and ensures the safety of the employees by enforcing safety policies and practices.

 

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate shift and tasks for employees.
  • Identify and organize training efforts and needs.
  • Work directly with employees to gain optimum quality of work and efficiency.
  • Accomplishes departmental results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Complete production plan by scheduling and assigning employees; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; resolving problems; required reporting.
  • Maintain production quality by enforcing company standards.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing employees on the use of equipment and resources.
  • Continuous improvement activities to reduce scrap and increase productivity.
  • Arrive at work at least 30 minutes prior to production schedule and work the scheduled shift.
  • Work additional overtime as needed

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Interpret documents such as production schedules and process sheets.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Follow established methods and procedures.
  • Capable of writing procedures.
  • Perform basic math calculations.
  • Personable and able to communicate effectively.
  • Understand basic job functions in order to schedule production effectively.

 

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma.
  • Minimum one year of supervisory experience in a manufacturing facility.
