Summary of the Position

The Engineer III is responsible for implementation of projects related to the development and improvement of products and processes from conceptualization to product delivery throughout the equipment families. Plans, organizes, and leads engineering work under the direction of the Development Engineering Manager with cross-functional team members to ensure products meet quality and performance requirements of the marketplace and the Company’s overall strategy and goals.

 Product and Process Development 

  • Reviews and understands current processes, equipment functionality and their outcome.
  • Designs and draws sketches from initial concepts and ideas for various tooling, process, and machine projects
  • Presents designs, drawing, cost estimates, and project plans to Development Engineering Manager for approval. Once approved, coordinate’s part acquisition and machine building, and develops project timeline for installation and run out
  • Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget
  • Arrange for required resources and lead as needed to execute projects
  • Ability to prepare reports from raw data and make recommendations
  • Perform design, testing and evaluation on new or redesigned products
  • Document and report test results
  • Evaluates RFQ’s (Request for Qualification) for manufacturability and collection of supplier-provided technical info, that it supports business quality assurance (VOC).
  • Provide product (prototypes) for field tests with the proper documentation and specifications through the sales/ marketing department
  • Leads Corrective Actions and proactive process improvements
  • Benchmarking of competitive products
  • Works on ECR’s
  • Development of product packaging, production BOM’s, and internal documentation for Operations Team
  • Work with Design Drawing operators (SolidWorks), Documentation Specialist(s), and Lab Technicians(s)
  • Provide periodic reports on the status of project milestones and coordinates adjustments to schedules accordingly
  • Tracks project savings

 

 Support 

  • Participate in team meetings
  • Applies the use of continuous improvement methods and tools
  • Training operators 

 

 

Education and/or Experience

 

Required -

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field of Engineering such as Mechanical, Manufacturing with 3 to 9 years of experience with Product Development experience in Manufacturing.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and SolidWorks

 

Preferred -

  • Product Development Engineering experience of gas apparatus or related industry
  • Experience with Lean tools – Value Stream Mapping, Design for Manufacturability
  • Proficient with SAP and Mini Tab
  • Six Sigma training – Certified Black Belt or equivalent
