Overview:
The Linux Administration Specialist I, position is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, security, and reliable operation of Linux servers across our global enterprise. This role delivers operational support for on-premises and cloud-hosted Linux systems, drives platform automation, and resolves complex technical issues to ensure availability, performance, and compliance. The Linux Administrator collaborates closely with Infrastructure, Cloud, Network, Storage, Security, and Application teams to ensure the server estate meets business objectives and scales efficiently worldwide.
Main responsibilities:
- Provide daily administration and operational support for enterprise Linux platforms across on-prem and public cloud environments.
- Manage OS lifecycle tasks, including image builds, provisioning, configuration, hardening, patching, and decommissioning, using automation tools.
- Implement and maintain security controls, integrate with enterprise identity systems, and support vulnerability remediation in partnership with Security.
- Monitor system health and capacity, tune performance, and build alerts and dashboards for proactive trend analysis and forecasting for capacity and growth.
- Troubleshoot complex incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions; document runbooks, standards, and operational procedures.
- Support and improve backup/restore and disaster recovery processes for Linux workloads; participate in DR tests and remediation activities.
- Plan and implement major OS/application upgrades and platform changes, following change management and release best practices.
- Contribute to container runtime support and platform operations in partnership with platform teams.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and perform maintenance during approved change windows as needed.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support strategic objectives.

- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 4–7 years administering Linux in enterprise environments (multi-site/global preferred), including production operations, performance tuning, and incident management.
- Strong knowledge of Linux administration (RHEL, Ubuntu, or similar distributions) in both on-premises and cloud environments.
- Experience with automation and scripting tools for system management and process improvement.
- Familiarity with virtualization platforms (such as VMware or KVM) and cloud services (such as Azure or AWS).
- Understanding of security best practices, compliance requirements, and identity integration for Linux systems.
- Solid grasp of networking fundamentals as they relate to Linux server operations.
- Ability to monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and document technical procedures.
- Experience with container platforms (Kubernetes/OpenShift), infrastructure as code, or advanced automation tools.
- Highly motivated, customer-centric, self-starter; strong documentation, communication, and cross-team collaboration.
