Applications Engineer Trainee

DESCRIPTION:

The primary responsibility of this position is to participate in a twelve month or longer training program to obtain skills and knowledge that are required for the position of a Level I Application Engineer. This program will cover all aspects of automation and tooling projects through various departments; application engineering, project management, mechanical and electrical engineering, machine shop, mechanical and electrical assembly, and systems integration. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in off-site training modules related to manual arc welding and robot programming
  • Work closely with team members in various departments
  • Assemble tooling and/or equipment per assembly drawings, and any additional specifications provided by engineering.
  • When necessary, travel to the customer’s site to assist in equipment installation and start-up.
  • Complete required tasks by project specific dates as determined by project managers or department leads
  • Inform department sponsor or supervisor of any technical issues.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of Lincoln Electric Chattanooga’s Equipment Design and Build Standards
  • Gain a thorough understanding of Lincoln Electric Chattanooga’s Technical Guidelines and Project Flow
  • Attend weekly performance review meetings with department sponsors and Application Engineering Manager
     

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS or Associates degree in Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 0-2 years of experience with automation equipment and tooling.
  • Communication, customer relationship, computer and organizational skills
  • Knowledge Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Self-motivated, able to act independently or work with other team members.
  • High energy level and flexibility to manage job demands outside of traditional business hours.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
