PURPOSE: Intermediate-Advanced level integrated systems assembly, hydraulic and pneumatic plumbing ability, and mechanical expertise.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):

  • Expert understanding and analysis of blueprints/assembly prints.
  • Understands hardware classifications and intended uses (i.e. thread pitch, size, classification, material and corresponding tap and die sizes)
  • Understands dowel sizing and usage, including corresponding reamer sizes
  • Taps & reams with proper techniques
  • Understands the different Loctite & their applications.
  • Inspect components to the part print when an error occurs
  • Understands and uses different thread locking compounds properly for their respective applications
  • Properly assembles sub components to the assembly print
  • Torques all bolts properly with thread locking compound and serrated lock washers installed
  • Verify parts to print to
  • Properly assemble cars & rails using company procedure
  • Plumbs and installs fittings properly necessary to the job
  • Properly understands plumbing installation, function, and schematics
  • Plumbs for spot weld cells and erects safety panels for laser/MIG welders
  • Proper installation of Helicoil or other types of thread inserts
  • Verifies properly assembled subs of other personnel  to company standards when requested
  • Trains Mechanical Integration Technicians level 1 when requested
  • Takes inventory, orders, and restocks items when assigned or needed
  • Cross-trains with other departments
  • Assembles all equipment used to operate the cell/system.
  • Assembles and positions all electrical control pallets for electrical control panels and welders, MIG cells and spot-weld cells.
  • Locates and positions all light curtains for safety compliance
  • Maintains a high standard of quality as well as plant safety requirements
  • Completes assigned work efficiently and per Tennessee Rand’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WI)
  • Disassembles, repairs, and reassembles equipment such as gearboxes, pumps and mechanical drive trains
  • Works in a team or as an autonomous unit performing work orders and providing technical support
  • Organizes and maintains lubricants required for production and ancillary equipment
  • Loads and unloads equipment with ability to rig and estimate weights.
  • Confers with team leads to identify potential problems and work through to resolution.
  • Travels to customer locations to reassemble and/or install cells
  • Performs mechanical rebuilds as required.
  • Must be able to work at elevated heights (boom trucks, etc.)
  • Must be knowledgeable of OSHA codes and requirements.
  • Be aware of safety and proper lifting and transporting heavy and oversize loads
  • Be aware of automated equipment and its inherent dangers
  • Be proactive in continuous improvement methods
  • Have the ability/desire to maintain orderliness and cleanliness in the maintenance of equipment
  • Follow directions and ensure a safe and high quality product and production environment
  • Have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maintain a skills inventory score indicative of a level II (or higher) technician.

 

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience
  • Measurement skills (measuring tape, calipers, etc.)
  • Hand/power tool knowledge
  • Intermediate-Advanced mechanical ability
  • 3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Preventative maintenance experience is recommended.
  • Experience with robotic equipment.
  • Must be a qualified forklift operator.
  • Willing to travel to customer sites.
  • Demonstrate concern for safety on project of crew and others
  • Intermediate-Advanced knowledge of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics (and preferably electricity).
  • Intermediate-Advanced understanding of fabrication skills such as welding, cutting, grinding and machine work.
