PURPOSE: Typical responsibilities include maintaining all material master inventory planning data, generates buy component forecast, places purchase orders to meet requirements of material resource planning (“order to stock” and other order fulfillment requirements), while shepherding the order management requirements to successful conclusion (demand requisition through receipt and vendor payments).  Expected competencies include purchasing, scheduling techniques, MRP “Material Requirements Planning”, system calendars & service scheduling (days on and days off & other events such as plant shutdowns and inventory scheduling), inventory management, risk management, and supplier relationship management.  Previous experience desired in buying or purchased product planning.  Quoting and procuring MRO and non-strategic direct material requirements for the location, while collaborating with the local management team and corporate centers-led management group.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)

  • This role supports Senior Buyer / Sourcing Specialist and center-led sourcing, while monitoring their respective supplier’s performance and related corrective actions necessary to meet and improve our operational performance.
  • Works closely with other departments to identify, evaluate, and develop qualified suppliers for assigned purchase requirements.
  • Participates in local management meetings, gaining a better understanding of the immediate priorities locally while communicating progress.
  • Manages external supply risk associated with supplier performance, including planning strategies for inventory safety stocks, reorder points, minimum order quantities and other requirements.
  • Considers many cost variables when selecting suppliers during the buying process (examples: logistic selections, title transfer, INCO terms, training, technical support, payment terms, pricing, lead-times, order quantities, warranty, liabilities, and other factors based on specific budget and schedule requirements).
  • Member of cross-functional project teams to implement the most cost-effective value for procurement alternatives.
  • Prepares and Manages RFx “Requests for Quotation, Information, or Proposals” of local sourcing requirements.
  • Provides suppliers with forecasts and production schedule information as needed.
  • Continuous Improvement “CI” engagement for operational improvements of assigned procurement processes, including improvement in SAP transactions, master data accuracy, and implementation of new business systems related to S2P “Source to Pay” processes.
  • Attention to detail and policies for supplier on-boarding requirements (e.g., NDA to protect all intellectual property, tax documentation, vendor-master data collections of banking accounts, terms, and contact information).
  • Other tasks assigned as a valued member of the organization.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s 2025 Strategy.

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, or STEM program.  Other education considered with demonstrated equivalent years of experience in a similar role.
  • Desire 2 years minimum in a related procurement or materials management role with a bachelor’s degree.  Previous years of experience and professional referrals considered in lieu of education requirement.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as Part Prints, Bills of Material, Manufacturing Routings, and Job Order forms.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer proficiency with desired experience using Microsoft Office Suite, SAP or a similar ERP.
  • Knowledge and experience using consumption-based and forecast-based planning methods is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize work and adapt your work schedule to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate a strong attention to detail.
