PURPOSE: To purchase steel for Euclid Consumables and manage purchase order details related to delivery and quality.  

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)

  • Interface closely with Supply Management, Production, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Marketing and Finance to support steel purchasing and planning.
  • Assist Senior Buyers and Production Operations Planning Team Leads with orders and deliveries as it relates to R&D development and Production needs.
  • Develop and verify purchase orders for quality, price, due date and supplier per Buyer’s parameters.
  • Approve signed purchase orders per predetermined dollar limits.
  • Expedite and de-expedite purchase orders due to changes in demand or count.
  • Be responsive and accountable for securing supplier compliance information.
  • Create and track purchase requirements in support of R&D projects.
  • Aggressively track and communicate past due purchase orders.
  • Communicate closely with suppliers to improve delivery and service.
  • Initiate contacts with shop floor regarding supplier quality/delivery issues.
  • Participate in and initiate cost reduction projects.
  • Obey all safety rules, maintain the cleanliness of the work area and perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s Strategy.

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Able to communicate and deal effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Strong customer focus
  • Uncompromising attitude toward safety, environment, health, and quality
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Basic computer skills including proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, MES, SAP
  • Must be able to understand and interpret the specifications and procedures related to this job.
  • Ability to interface with external suppliers.
  • Knowledge of Lincoln part numbers and products.
  • Capable of coordinating purchased items.
  • Capability to work in a team environment for special projects implementation.
  • Must be self-motivated, safety and quality conscious.
