PURPOSE: As a Global Supplier Development Manager at the Lincoln Electric Company, the primary responsibilities lie in improving existing supplier performance, supporting new supplier selections, and engaging with cross-functional personnel to lead or participate in metric-based improvement activities.  The Global Procurement organization is responsible for a significant spend for the company.

 

The Global Supplier Development Manager role requires an unwavering commitment to improving all aspects of the supply chain as it affects Lincoln Electric. This role leads Supplier Qualification and Performance activities, manages supplier ratings, directs the supplier audit program and other initiatives that drive supplier improvement of performance. This role is involved with cross-functional teams globally on a regular basis.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)

  • Improve supplier performance
  • Train and coach supplier development and other employees
  • Assure Supplier Corrective and Preventive Action plans are developed and executed
  • Lead and direct monthly Supplier Qualification and Performance meetings
  • Improve supplier selection through cross functional qualification processes and reviews
  • Responsible to maintain and monitor supplier performance and compliance to requirements through Supplier Scorecards, Audits, SCAR’s, and other reporting tools
  • Develop positive relationships and work closely with Senior Buyers, Sourcing Specialists, Commodity Managers, top Procurement executives and other cross functional areas
  • Support supplier engineering changes and new product Introductions
  • Interface with Suppliers, Logistics, Engineering, Service, Manufacturing, and Quality to drive improvements that minimizes the cost of quality
  • Knowledge and support of Lincoln Electric policies, procedures, and other regulatory compliance requirements
  • Ensure a compliant and qualified supply base by conducting supplier audit and evaluations
  • Support other Global Entities in the improvement of their quality systems, supplier development program or general business best practices via audit, consultation, and training
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s 2025 Strategy.

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor Degree in a technical discipline (or non-technical degree combined with 10 years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, or quality assurance)
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel, proficient in other Microsoft Office products, and other related business systems
  • Effective problem solving, root-cause analytical skills to lead and influence others to drive change (cross-functionally and globally)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Quality Management System tools, continuous improvement methodologies and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to achieve results within all levels of the organization using concepts of design controls, design verification and validation activities; production and process controls; Supplier Corrective & Preventive Action (SCAPA), complaints & risk management; and product quality improvement tools such as six sigma, DFM, etc.
  • Ability to lead, develop, communicate, and implement a strategy to improve supply chain performance
  • Must have collaboration and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Willing to travel domestically and/or internationally up to 30% of time

 

PREFERRED  

 

  • Prefer 5-10 years of experience in manufacturing quality assurance or similar role
  • Prefer ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • Prefer experience of DFSS practices
