PURPOSE:  To be the lead mechanical or electrical engineer on a new product development projects. The lead engineer is responsible for leading the team thorough out the development process with minimal guidance.




  • Work in R&D, as part of the Accessories Strategic Business Unit, leading a product development team responsible for designing products such as Helmets, Welding Gear, and Tools. Projects that will be managed include products that will be built in Cleveland, and products purchased for resale.
  • Plan and coordinate the activities of technical support personnel.
  • Ensure product performance and reliability through validation and verification programs.
  • Work with Manufacturing, Supplier, and Marketing to improve quality, manufacturability, and value of new designs, along with introduction of the developed product.
  • Interact with suppliers, customers, distributors, and sales engineers.



  • Minimum four-year B.S. Engineering degree is required. Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering is desirable.
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent project management and organization skills.
  • Ability to handle a constantly changing set of priorities.
  • As a Departmental Group Leader – Take Engineering Ownership of the assigned product range, create plans to drive the product line forward in the competitive landscape, and manage the development process to deliver new products which fulfill the product line plans.
  • As a Senior Engineer – Possess and apply comprehensive knowledge of particular field of specialization to the completion of significant assignments that result in new technologies, which change how customers perceive Lincoln Electric.
  • Has well-developed leadership qualities. Crosses fields.
