PURPOSE: Manage operations and supervise personnel of Consumable Division Testing Services laboratories and machining work center.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):

  • Manages operations of Testing Services Laboratories including Chemical Lab, Mechanical Lab, Microscopy Lab, and Non-Destructive Testing Lab.
  • Manages machining operations in Testing Services Sample Prep.
  • Serves as ISO14001 Coordinator for Testing Services.
  • Manages team of 18 – 20 personnel. Responsible for training/certification of personnel per Plant Rules & Regulations, scheduling, and performance reviews/merit rating.
  • Drives continuous improvement in Testing Services capability, service, and quality through personnel development and strategic planning.
  • Collaborates with Lincoln Electric subsidiaries and partnerships to facilitate knowledge and best practice sharing.   Some travel may be required.

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree required; Masters of Science or equivalent preferred.  Other science or engineering degrees in related field may be considered.
  • 5 or more years of analytical chemistry or weld engineering experience required.
  • Basic knowledge of chemical analysis processes is required.  Experience with XRF, OES, ICP, Wet Chemistry analytical techniques is preferred.
  • Experience with microscopy, mechanical testing, metallurgy, and NDT testing of weld metals  and related materials strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in failure analysis of weld metals and weldments preferred.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis methods is required; knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies is desirable.
  • Demonstrated self-starter, highly motivated, results-oriented, and quality conscious.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills and a proven ability to communicate to all levels of the business.
  • Excellent record keeping and organizational skills.
