PURPOSE:   The Senior Litigation Paralegal will serve as an integral member of the legal department providing assistance and support on a broad range of legal matters affecting day-to-day business operations. The role is required to assist on a day-to-day basis on varied and complex litigation and regulatory matters that arise for Lincoln Electric and its global subsidiaries, including, but not limited to product liability, property damage, labor and employment, intellectual property, commercial contract, regulatory and environmental matters.  Areas of emphasis include litigation and investigation management, coordination with external counsel, coordination of data preservation and discovery obligations, and tracking status and spend for legal matters.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):

  • Manage legal holds and discovery                      
  • Correspond with in-house counsel globally to track litigation matters
  • Communicate with external counsel regarding case status and expenses
  • Create and/or modify reports, metrics, presentations, and correspondence
  • Maintain internal files related to legal matters
  • Assist with legal department budgeting/expense tracking support
  • Respond to internal inquiries from non-legal colleagues on a timely basis

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree required. Paralegal degree/certified paralegal preferred. Notary public preferred
  • 3 years’ experience as a paralegal at a law firm or comparable experience in-house
  • Significant experience and expertise in managing outside counsel reporting and expense tracking
  • Ability to manage complex projects from inception to completion
  • Excellent attention to detail oriented and organized
  • Ability to work with legal counsel in non-US jurisdictions on various matters
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including proofreading skills
  • High level of competency and experience with the Microsoft Office software package, Adobe Acrobat, litigation support applications, electronic docketing applications, PACER, electronic filing, research tools is preferred
  • Experience with insurance claim submissions is a plus
  • Self-motivated and able to achieve goals with minimal supervision
  • Able to analyze reports, identify discrepancies and investigate and resolve issues
  • Provides excellent client service
