PURPOSE:  Provide oversight, support, and supervision of staff responsible for Cleveland’s global product compliance. Responsible for significant regulatory, financial, and reputational exposure for the company. This is a working Manager position, and you may need to perform duties directly and/or provide back-up for direct reports.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)

  • Clear understanding of worldwide welding equipment regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for working with development teams to coordinate compliance activities and review of new products.
  • Monitor changes in regulations and requirements and notify business leaders of any impact.
  • Act as a compliance resource to research and answer regulatory compliance questions posed by the various business units.
  • Consults with legal experts (internal and external) as needed to obtain guidance or advice on any legal compliance matters as necessary.
  • Provide consultation to domestic and international managers where needed.
  • Responsible for managing lab safety standards and related programs.
  • Manage laboratory testing equipment and corresponding calibration activities.
  • Oversee and maintain third party certification for the R&D laboratory testing facility.
  • Develop education, training, and awareness programs for various compliance topics.

 

 BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle a constantly changing set of priorities.
  • Ability to take ownership of all Compliance related activities that help fulfill the business unit’s product line plans.
  • Anticipates internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues; recommends process, product, or service improvements.
  • Experience in root cause analysis and problem solving.
  • Has well-developed leadership qualities. Crosses fields.
