Summary

 

Lincoln Electric is seeking a Packaging Engineering Technologist for our Euclid, OH headquarters. The Packaging Engineering Technologist will help facilitate packaging changes and improvements for our Consumable product portfolio, providing collaborative communication alongside internal and external customers and stakeholders. This role involves working hands on with facilitating packaging changes from our suppliers, to our manufacturing facility, to meet our customer expectations.

What You Will Do:

 

  • Support various packaging manufacturing processes, materials, and business system procedures.
  • Provide hands-on support and direct observation for packaging processes in production.
  • Collaborate with engineers in the development and enhancement of packaging designs, conducting experiments such as shipping tests, drop tests, and related testing for welding performance.
  • Support label design formats and associated printing and labeling infrastructure using company label software.
  • Coordinate with packaging suppliers to drive improvements in productivity, quality, and innovation.
  • Create and maintain packaging bills of materials, issue purchase orders, work orders, and quality information.
  • Implement permission notes and change requests, coordinating packaging materials between internal functional areas.
  • Utilize the company’s MES, ERP, and Quality systems for maintaining packaging-related data, including Bills of Materials (BOMs) and labeling information.
  • Develop proficiency in entry-level CAD functions to manage packaging models and purchase specifications.
  • Independently navigate company systems to extract and manipulate data for presentations and conclusions.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to optimize packaging materials for manufacturability.
  • Support the commissioning process of new packaging equipment.
  • Apply Continuous Improvement methodologies to address root causes.
  • Utilize Excel, Word, and PowerPoint creatively for effective communication and data analysis.
  • Occasional travel to packaging conferences, visit suppliers, and engage with customers as necessary.

Required Education & Experience

 

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (BSET) with 3–9+ years of related experience. In lieu of BSET, an Associate's Degree with 5–11+ years of related experience may be considered. 10-15+ years of related experience in lieu of Associate's or Bachelor's Degree.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication shop machining, welding, materials, and assembly.
  • Ability to work effectively and cross-functionally on the shop floor regularly.
  • Willingness to travel between Lincoln Subsidiaries and Suppliers as required; Regularly travel between Euclid and Mentor plants.
  • Proficient in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with SAP is a plus.
  • Capable of performing hands-on work as required.
