PURPOSE: To assume full responsibility, subject to specifications and company policies for the procurement of specifically assigned commodities.

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):

  • Responsible for developing sourcing strategies and strategy execution. Preference will be giving to experience in alloys, metals or chemicals buying.
  • Interface closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, QA, Marketing and Finance.
  • In conjunction with Global commodity strategies, identify, evaluate, and develop qualified suppliers.  Identify and quantify the economic opportunities for strategic projects.
  • Lead strategic projects as required.
  • Achieve performance objectives of Business Plan, particularly business working capital. Report key measurements and take corrective actions where necessary.
  • Ensure quality, delivery and total cost objectives are met. Participate on and/or lead cross-functional teams.
  • Evaluation of internal process costs versus external.
  • Assigned special sourcing or corrective action projects as required.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s 2025 Strategy.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Management/Purchasing/Engineering or a related field.
  • Mininium 5 years procurement/materials/engineering experience in manufacturing environment.
  • MBA, CPM, CPIM certification a plus.
  • Experience in dealing with Suppliers.
  • Excellent negotiation skills (understands cost drivers).  Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, at all levels of the organizations.
  • Project management skills and capable of working as a cross functional Project Team Leader.
  • Leadership skills, self-initiative and proficient problem solver.
  • Understanding of Lincoln products and Lincoln Supply Chain, Production Planning, Demand Planning and/or Lincoln Capital Purchasing processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of commodity manufacturing processes and industry cost drivers.
  • An excellent understanding of SAP is preferred.
  • Knowledge of eAuction programs is preferred.
  • International sourcing experience and willing to travel internationally up to 25%.  Must have good judgment and be self-motivated.
  • Must maintain and represent Lincoln Electric with uncompromised Business Ethics.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office productivity software, such as Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
