PURPOSE: To weld standardized test plates for code conformance.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)

  • Weld AWS and other test plates for purposes of weld metal deposit testing.
  • Perform welds in a controlled manner to maintain proper heat input, inner-pass temperatures and bead placement.
  • Perform welds to pass variety of tests including visual inspection, non-destructive and destructive tests.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations for heat input, average speeds, etc.
  • Control and record multiple parameters for each individual test.
  • Use established procedures and/or drawings; Execute work in accordance with instructions provided.
  • Perform additional tasks as required by engineers or supervisor.
  • Maintain safe operation, cleanliness, and routine maintenance of all assigned equipment and instrumentation.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s 2025 Strategy.

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Welding certificate or documented training is required.
  • Working knowledge of welding methods and process, including demonstrated ability to weld SMAW(manual), GMAW (semiautomatic and/or automatic), GTAW (manual), SAW (automatic), and/or FCAW(semiautomatic and/or automatic)
  • Working knowledge of instrumentation (multi-meters, temperature probes, etc.).
  • Must be qualified for the welding processes/consumables/positions used in standard test welds and fabrication.
  • Mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot when required.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain neat/accurate records.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to develop a positive and cooperative work environment with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Safety and quality conscious.
