PURPOSE:  This position is responsible for supporting global trade compliance by developing, implementing and managing all import/export management structures and systems for domestic and international compliance.  Additionally this position will provide technical support on all issues related to import/export programs, customs, harmonized tariff information and company products. 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):

  • Management of import/export activities and global custom brokerage support.
  • Classify and maintain correct harmonized tariff codes and country of origin information to accurately define traded goods.
  • Manage and respond to import/export compliance audits.
  • Complete and maintain all required recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Manages Import Compliance for various commodities including steel, raw materials and other consumer goods.
  • Develops and establishes matrix to monitor shipments and global issues.  May include developing and maintaining databases.
  • Leads the design and implementation of global customs compliance processes and provide training on best practices. Validate standard operating procedures.
  • Provides item master updates and works with internal/external systems on extracting relevant information for brokers, carriers and warehouses to support operations.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or directed in support of Lincoln Electric’s strategic plan and 2020 Vision.

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Degree in Logistics/Supply Chain or International Trade preferred
  • United States Customs brokerage license and a minimum of 5 years’ experience required.
  • Familiarity with US, EU as well as other import and export regulations including HTS classification framework and other Government Agency requirements.
  • Developed business acumen on an International level.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
  • Database experience required preferably with SAP.
